Lpn Job Description-A Detailed Look!
What is a typical LPN job description? With so many people hoping or thinking about going to nursing school these days, that’s a question that’s on the mind of tens of thousand of Americans right now. In the coming days, that number will only get bigger, as more people who have lost their jobs in this fragile economy seek to find some sort of job stability by pursuing a nursing career. That’s a smart move. There’s already a severe LPN shortage, and as millions of baby boomers begin retiring, the problem will continue to get worse. Which means that job security should be one of the first things mentioned in any LPN job description! It’s certainly one of the best benefits, and if you decide that a career as a licensed practical nurse is for you, and earn your certification, you’ll practically be guaranteed a job for life.
So what is typical day like as a licensed practical nurse? That’s really hard to say, because for most LPN’s, every day is filled with new and exciting challenges. Boredom is not a word that comes up often when talking about a nursing career. Yes, you’ll be doing some things quite routinely, such as taking blood pressure, giving the occasional bath or enema, preparing and administering injections to patients, taking vital measurements like pulse, weight, height, etc. You’ll also be monitoring patients’ progress and interacting with them as you go throughout your day. Part of your job will likely be assigning and supervising certified nursing aides. But there really is no “typical” LPN job description. For most LPNs, every day will be different than the one before it. Some days will be quite hectic, others not quite so hectic, but you’ll never lack for things to do. But all of it will revolve around what nursing is all about – comforting the sick, easing their pain, and when possible, nursing them back to health. Can you think of a better job description in any field?
